Sacramento, California.

So our last week in California is Sacramento, which was originally a gold rush town but is now the state capital. I thought as we headed further north the temperature would drop slightly but I was wrong. Due to heading inland away from that refreshing sea breeze the temperature has risen once again and it is hot, hot, hot. It was also a pretty quiet week as California has hit the wallet fairly hard with all the theme parks and (expensive) stuff to do and also a higher than usual tax. It still seems odd that this differs in each State when you are use to a static tax in the UK, admittedly a higher static tax.

The train did seem to be parked somewhere with not a lot going on around it but it was close to a light rail which took us Downtown and also to Old Sacramento. It was nice to go somewhere that looked and felt like a proper town and not just some mall. Old Sacramento was really nice and it was like stepped out into a cowboy film. It was right next to the river which had a river walk along side it (not like last week when it was only a river walk by name) The California State Railroad Museum was also here and there were a few bits and bobs to see without actually going in. Even though it is aimed at tourists there were some nice shops here and it had a nice atmosphere.

Wandering around by the building I saw what I thought was a hare, someone else told me it was a jack rabbit. Now as far as I am aware we do not have jack rabbits in the UK so is a jack rabbit just a hare by another name. Whatever it was though, his ears were huge and his tail was not.
